Germany global Shkodran Mustafi has been ruled out after picking up an injury during worldwide duty.

Mustafi started for Germany during their World Cup qualifying win over Azerbaijan last Sunday night but was forced off in the first half after pulling-up clutching his thigh.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes he has never been fitter as he attempts to convince manager Arsene Wenger he is worthy of a Premier League return.

Koscielny, on the other hand, skipped the recent global break to recover from an Achilles injury that has been a long-standing issue for the France defender.

With Calum Chambers also sidelined through injury it could mean Arsenal go into the Watford match without four senior defenders.

And he is having to give Laurent Koscielny as long as possible to prove his fitness for Saturday's Premier League clash with Watford because he is so short of defenders.

"He trained on his own and the signs were positive so we will test him on Friday".

Wenger explained: "Koscielny has a definite final test tomorrow". I think about sorting out the problem, but overall I will decide completely tomorrow the line-up because Koscielny will have a test.

"He didn't play in their first game and we lost him in the second - we have to cope with that now".

Koscielny has had the problem for many seasons and though he has not yet resumed full training, he is set to return to action with the squad ahead of Saturday's game. "I am more concerned that yesterday afternoon I watched the whole game Brazil against Chile to see how hard the game was and I must say he got some special treatment in this game".
