James said writing the new novel was a "journey of discovery", in the news release.

Anna Messitte, publisher of Vintage, teased that the book will contain tons of surprises.

When James released her first Christian Grey POV story back in 2015, the author noted in a statement, "Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past".

"The inside of Christian's head is a pretty daunting place to be", said James. Even though the film was still embraced by fans of the books, as well as of Christian and Anastasia, it did not fare as well as the first film in the box office. A U.S. Spanish-language edition, published by Vintage Español, will be available in December.

E L Jamess GREY is the fastest-selling book in the history of Penguin Random House. In fact, the trilogy has now sold more than 150 million copies worldwide and have been translated into an incredible 52 languages!

And it's not just the new book that Fifty Shades fans have to look forward to, as the third film - Fifty Shades Freed - is due to be released on February 9 2018.

After twenty-five years working in TV, E L James made a decision to pursue a childhood dream, and set out to write stories that readers would fall in love with.

"Fifty Shades Darker As Told By Christian" will be released next month, according to the erotic fiction writer in an Instagram post.
