Former Baylor football player says coach helped him cheat drug test

Josh Gordon was a talented receiver during his time at Baylor and early in his career with the Cleveland Browns.

Gordon recently applied for reinstatement multiple times but has yet to have it approved by the National Football League offices.

Since receiving first-team All-Pro honors in 2013, Gordon has played in just five games due to his multiple violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

This is merely a 13 minute look, but Gordon - at the time this video was shot - was 70 days into rehab and sounds like a changed person. It was so odd, but I just had a desire to stop.

"I've used alcohol on many, many occasions, Xanax on many occasions, cocaine several occasions, marijuana most of my life, codeine, cough syrup, methazine is very prevalent where I'm from", Gordon says. However, Gordon also revealed that while at Baylor, the school would help him cheat drug tests.

"I've been enabled most of my life", Gordon noted. "I've been enabled by coaches, teachers, professors, you know, everybody pretty much gave me a second chance just because of my ability".

Gordon was released from rehab in late September.

If league commissioner Roger Goodell were to reverse Gordon's indefinite ban and reinstate him, the Browns could opt to put him on the roster for two more seasons.

"He showed me how to drink them, showed me how to take them". At that point is when Gordon shares the story of how an unnamed coach provided him with the detox to get around an upcoming drug test. Gordon says he ran out of the detox drink and he was wondering when the coach would come around with more. Gordon wound up with 87 catches for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns while breaking a few records along the way. I had the desire to get help, invest myself 100% into whatever was going to help save my life. The teammate was kicked off the team, while Gordon was suspended.

"Honestly the whole experience has been humbling and it's humbling every day", he said.

Gordon insists he is serious about getting his life together, saying at the video's conclusion, "I need to try to make right for all my past transgressions and mistakes and show and prove I can be a better person, I can be a better man".
