McAdoo told reporters Wednesday that he had a personal conversation with Rodgers-Cromartie, and on Wednesday morning, the veteran corner made a decision to leave the team.

The Giants, who were considered Super Bowl contenders entering the season, are off to an 0-5 start and have been hit by a rash of injuries.

Giants safety Landon Collins said he believed the issue occurred from what he called an "altercation" between McAdoo and Rodgers-Cromartie on Sunday, according to ESPN.

Coach Ben McAdoo announced it in his press conference, said Rodgers-Cromartie will be suspended, and the Giants' Twitter feed reported it. "We will suspend him", McAdoo said Wednesday.

In another odd twist to a disastrous season for the Giants, the team has suspended cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

When asked further questions, McAdoo repeatedly declined to give any more information on the suspension, including the subject of his conversation with Rodgers-Cromartie and the length of the suspension.

Collins, an All-Pro last season, was hobbled throughout the Giants' game against the Chargers. If the Giants cut him, he would carry $2 million in dead cap space for 2018, a savings of $6.5 million. McAdoo repeatedly refused to provide any other details about the situation. It wouldn't be a surprise given how things are going for the Giants this season. After the Giants demoted Eli Apple for Rodgers-Cromartie last Sunday, Apple wasn't happy and said he was a scapegoat. If they galvanize ahead of Sunday night's game in Denver and actually manage to be competitive, it will be impressive.
