Today, the service expands nationwide for Target, with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii.

Next year, Target plans to make its REDcard debit and credit cards available as payment options on Google Express, allowing those shoppers to take advantage of the card's five percent discount on orders and free shipping. While Amazon is inherently poised to dominate e-commerce integration, Google seems to be making sure they are able to compete by offering some level of feature parity across their wide range of Assistant-enabled devices.

Besides, Google Assistant will soon be gaining functionality for online shopping, now shopping via Google Home and Assistant is only possible on Android TV. The other, and potentially bigger news, is that Google is bringing shopping capabilities to Google Assistant when you're using the virtual assistant on a supported smartphone or tablet. This past summer, for example, the Minneapolis discounter began expanding its next-day essentials delivery service that it was testing to the Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C./Baltimore areas.

Like many retailers, Target has been offering more shopping options.

"We have lots of different choices of how they buy from us", said Mike McNamara, Target's chief information and digital officer. For Google, the deal extends the appeal of its online mall at a time when more shoppers are beginning their online product searches on Amazon. In fact, Walmart, which went live with voice shopping last week, is integrating its easy reorder feature - which has data on both store and online purchases - into Google Express. With shopping coming to Google Assistant, you'll be able to access products from over 50 Google Express retailers so you have a huge inventory to choose from. According to Forrester Research, 12 percent of shoppers own some voice device like Echo or Google Home.

You now can't tie your Target account to Google Express, but Target says that will be an option in 2018.

You can download this latest update for your Android TV-powered device via Google Play, or you can sideload it from APK Mirror.
