Legoland to open New York theme park in 2020

Merlin Entertainments, one of the world's leading visitor attraction operators, officially announces that it will open a LEGOLAND Park in NY, its third in North America. I can pledge to you that LEGOLAND New York will be a trusted and valued member of this community.

Apart from NY, the company intends to open Legoland Parks in South Korea and China.

Legoland New York is expected to attract between 1.5 million and 2.5 million people every year. It will be the developer's third Lego park built in the United States.

After more than a year of public meetings and hearings in addition to a thorough and transparent review process by officials, LEGOLAND New York has been granted conditional approval of its site plan by the Town of Goshen Planning Board, allowing it to officially move ahead with building the Park. I am honored to announce LEGOLAND New York is officially moving forward.

Shares in the London-listed company are now at their cheapest point in more than two years, following a gloomy trading update last week which showed that terrorist attacks and bad weather had hit revenue.

The new park will include a 250-bedroom Legoland Hotel.

The owner of Madame Tussauds and Alton Towers said that the new Legoland will open in 2020 and be located in Goshen, Orange County, 60 miles north-west of the Big Apple. The announcement builds on the success of other North American LEGOLAND Parks in California and Florida.

LEGOLAND New York will feature an ongoing commitment to education.

The $350 million, 500 acre theme park will feature a 250-room hotel and is expected to attract almost 2 million visitors per year, reports ABC. Visit www.merlinentertainments.biz for more information.
