Five Hollywood Studios On Board For Movies Anywhere Service

Google has announced support for Movies Anywhere, a new service which seeks to make your movie collection available across multiple platforms. You can find our more details about Movies Anywhere at the link below.

It's official. "Movies Anywhere" is launching in the US with movies from Sony Pictures Entertainment; Twentieth Century Fox Film; Universal Pictures and Warner Bros.

The way this thing works is it simply collects all your movie purchases from iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Vudu, allowing you to instantly access them without ever switching accounts or apps. Consequently, the Keychest-powered system that Disney has been using since 2014 will now unlock movies from the said studios which amount to over 7300 titles along with previews and film extras from the studios behind such hits as Wonder Woman, Beauty and the Beast, Spider-Man: Homecoming, War for the Planet of the Apes and The Fate of the Furious.

Three whole years after launching a so-called digital locker service for the cross-platform synchronization of its own motion pictures, The Walt Disney Company has (almost) pulled off the impossible, convincing four fellow major film distributors to join the Movies Anywhere initiative.

The old apps will be renamed as Movies Anywhere. Consumers should activate and connect their account with one of these participating digital retailers- Amazon Video, Google Play, iTunes or Vudu to receive a digital copy of both Sony Pictures' "Ghostbusters" (2016) and Twentieth Century Fox's "Ice Age". Movies Anywhere now offers support for devices including Amazon Fire; Android devices and Android TV; Apple TV; Chromecast; Apple's iPhone, iPad and iPod touch; and Roku.

Movies Anywhere will roll out first in the USA but will presumably make it to further nations in future.

Users will be able to enjoy movies all in one place. When they connect with a second participating digital retailer and Disney's "Big Hero 6", Universal's "Jason Bourne" and Warner Bros.' "The LEGO Movie" will be added to their digital movie collection.
