Report Odell Beckham will undergo surgery for injured ankle

Beckham was hurt in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Chargers that dropped Big Blue to a dismal 0-5, but the concern afterward was not exclusively for a lost season, but the injury to their best player.

A source told ESPN that Beckham will get a second opinion before deciding on surgery to fix the injury.

Beckham was carted off on Sunday after his ankle bent awkwardly underneath him, and it was clear the injury was serious. But here are five options to fill a now likely to be empty roster spot for the rest of the season, with some hope of filling the void left by Beckham.

"Obviously, you never want to see any receiver go down, and it looked like he was in some pain", Giants quarterback Eli Manning said. "I just told him I'd be thinking about him".

Beckham had 25 receptions for 302 yards and three touchdowns this season. Both Harris and Beckham were placed on the injured reserve. Also injuring an ankle in the 27-22 loss to the Chargers was wide receiver Sterling Shepard as the Giants experienced a day of receiver injuries that defied explanation. "He's a brother to everybody and somebody we really care about".

It is possible their top receiver in next week's Sunday night primetime matchup against the Broncos in Denver could be Roger Lewis Jr. - a second-year player undrafted out of Bowling Green.

"Yeah, I mean, it significantly altered the game", Giants coach Ben McAdoo said. - Buffalo Bills starting tight end Charles Clay is out indefinitely after having surgery on his left knee.

FYI: The Giants' leading rusher this season is Orleans Darkwa, who has 122 yards - in five games. He's second on the team with 20 catches and leads Buffalo with 258 yards, and tied for the team lead with two touchdowns.

The Giants are re-signing WR Tavarres King and promoting Travis Rudolph from the practice squad, sources said Monday.

The addition of new wide receivers and bumping guys up from the practice squad could give the Giants a sense of what other talent they may have on their hands as they try to make sense of an 0-5 season.
