Officials at the base have said two of the soldiers who were hit are now in critical condition.

Troops prepare for a teamwork drill at Fort Jackson, S.C. Two soldiers at the fort were killed in a military vehicle accident on October 6. The Army has released only limited information regarding what occurred.

The fact that the dead and injured soldiers were all privates indicates they might have been part of a basic, or beginning, training program.

They are: Pvt. Ethan Shrader, from Prospect, TN., and Pvt.

Pvt. Foreman, a husband and father to a two-year-old girl, had recently joined the Army and reported last month to Fort Jackson for basic training. Alan Kryszak of Clarksville, Tenn; Pvt. Cardre Jackson Jr., Laurel, MD; and Pvt.

A statement from Fort Jackson did not give details about where the wreck happened or the type of vehicle involved. James Foster of Macon, Ga.

"We will thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident".

Congressmen Joe Wilson, whose district includes the Fort Jackson facility that lies just outside of Columbia, South Carolina, also released a statement regarding the incident on Twitter Friday evening. The Army did not identify the victims' unit or training program.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the soldiers we lost today and to the families of the injures, they represent the best of our nation", U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson Commander Maj. "I am very appreciative for all the exceptional support from the Columbia medical community".

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
