The women who were returning from South Korea to China were reportedly not allowed to leave the country because their faces did not match with their passport photos after they underwent plastic surgery.

The women flew to South Korea during China's annual Golden Week holiday to go under the knife.

Jian Hua Hua, a Chinese TV anchor, shared the photo on Weibo of the incident.

They showed officials their tickets and travel documents but still could not prove they were the same people in their passport photos. "Even your mother won't recognize you".

"They look so scary", one Weibo user commented. According to The Hindustan Times, it has the most plastic surgeries per capita on earth, with over 980,000 recorded operations in 2014.

The airport security claims all three failed to pass the check-in because they don't look anything like the women from the passports, writes The Sun.

The New York Post reports that the women were in their 20s but remained unidentified.

Jian said the women were detained and questioned by airport authorities. "I landed few hours ago in Dubai and when I reached the counter the immigration officer, after scanning my passport and using a face recognition machine, he politely referred me to an office where I had to sit and wait for 3 hours".
