UNC guard Joel Berry broke his hand on door after losing video game

North Carolina senior point guard Joel Berry II broke his right hand while punching a wall after losing a game of NBA2K.

Then, sometimes, you actually do get so frustrated that you follow through on that feeling, like North Carolina senior guard Joel Berry recently did. "One of his greatest characteristics is his competitiveness".

Berry was also named the NCAA tournament's Most Outstanding Player as he helped guide the Tar Heels to their first national title since 2009.

"He did a silly thing", Roy Williams told ESPN at ACC media day Wednesday.

Williams was uncertain as to how long Berry would be sidelined, although the initial prognosis is four weeks.

In his absence, the Tar Heels will turn to freshman Jalek Felton, sophomore Seventh Woods and Pinson.

Berry was a cornerstone for UNC previous year, averaging 14.7 points and 3.6 assists and helping the Tar Heels win the 2017 national championship. He had 22 points in the national championship game victory over Gonzaga. It will be interesting to see the lineup combinations that Williams comes up with while Berry is out. Tar Heels forward Theo Pinson, who was playing the video game with Berry and a student manager, described it as "just a freak accident". Berry is expected to miss around four weeks, while UNC begins its season November 10 against Northern Iowa.
