WhatsApp Adds Location-Sharing Feature

The feature will be rolled out in the next few weeks on both Android and iOS and is guaranteed to be a life-saver when it comes to finding any wayward friends on a night out. Before sending the location, users have the option to set how long will the receivers be able to see your location before it gets hidden again.

WhatsApp have launched a brand new feature allowing users to share their real-time location with friends.

WhatsApp Location Sharing feature can be accessed by clicking the paperclip icon next to the chat box. However, the feature would offer the flexibility of switching the location sharing service on and off, if they want. Your live location will stop being shared after the selected amount of time. If you choose to send it, the live location tracker becomes active. Further, those who go for the WhatsApp Location Sharing, the use of Global Positioning System will drain out the battery life, a major issue for those who are using lower-end or older devices.

All you have to do to turn your location on is open a chat and tap on the Location option in the attach button and choose Share Live Location.

If for some reason, you want to remove the location which you have recently shared to a chat or a group, you can simply delete the live location from the chat itself.

In a WhatsApp group, you can bring up the group info and see all users that are sharing their location with the group at that point in time.

Everyone in your selected chats can now see your real-time location on the map.

To use Live Location, start a chat with the person or group you'd like to share your location with. A user can look into the account privacy settings to know how many users are getting the location map. For more such useful updates, stay tuned with us!
