3 dead after shooting in Northern California elementary school

An active shooter situation was reported at a Northern California elementary school today, a school official said. There are now 100 law enforcement personnel on scene. "We have at least 5 scenes right now", a deputy said.

"I know of at least three deaths", Johnson told KNVN-TV.

Two children have been hospitalised with gunshot wounds and three people were killed in the shooting.

The shooter was shot and cleared by police. "Multiple students" were airlifted from the scene, with a 6-year-old reportedly among the injured.

The school is in the Rancho Tehama Reserve, about 130 miles north of Sacramento.

The Corning Elementary School District says indeed there was a shooting this morning at one of its schools, Rancho Tehama Elementary School.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8am local time.

A spokesperson for the Tehama County Sheriff's Office said: 'We had multiple shots fired. Rancho Tehama is southwest of Red Bluff.
