To be fair, they haven't played many great teams this season, but the Washington program has prided itself on a strong defense for years.

"I would like to play (against) something we've seen a whole bunch of where you get those carry over reps", Petersen said, per Business Insider.

Bryce Love would take over in the second half.

"He pours his heart out for his teammates", Shaw said. "I don't' know if you could ask anything more of a football player". He was stuffed on his first carry before ripping off a 21-yard run to get the Cardinal to the Washington 30-yard line.

Love, despite a lingering ankle problem, is the No. 1 rusher in the country, averaging 182.0 yards per game, and he's had a run of 50 yards or more in each of the past 10 games. "Just seeing things better, feeling a little better, just knowing things would open up". Obviously he's got really good vision.

The Huskies (8-2, 6-2 Pac-12, No. 9 CFP) started fast with touchdown runs by Myles Gaskin on the first two drives but stalled after that in a crippling blow to their hopes of getting back to the four-team playoff. In an interview with the Canton Repository this week, new Pitt athletic director Heather Lyke confirmed talks to extend the series and even went so far as to say that a deal is very close to being completed. Stanford became the first team to score 30 points on Washington's defense - which entered the game second nationally in points allowed per game - in 24 games. Stanford has made 205 consecutive extra-point attempts, the third-longest streak in the nation.

"It's still kind of surreal", Shaw said of approaching the milestone (via the San Francisco Chronicle). The Cougars can clinch a spot in the conference title game with wins at Utah and Washington in the final two games. A win on the road against a good Stanford team would be a massive playoff statement for a Washington squad that has had its strength of schedule criticized, while a Cardinal victory would move them into a three-way tie atop the Pac-12 North with UW and WSU, who still have to play each other in a couple of weeks. Cardinal coach David Shaw has 70 career wins, one shy of matching the school record set by Glenn "Pop" Warner from 1924-32.
