IPOB Threatens To Shed Blood Should Buhari Visit South East

Earlier in his speech, Governor David Umahi had extolled the Federal Government for its numerous support to the state in terms of agricultural facilities and the Anchors Borrowers scheme of the Central Bank of Nigeria. As the most populous country in Africa with over 300 ethnic groups, our diversity is nearly unique among nations.

"When I met with leaders of the south east last month in Abuja they raised several issues of concern including the state of roads in the region. Our 2018 budget included many projects for the region in the area of power, agriculture and social services".

President Muhamadu Buhari has began a tour of Southeastern states in the country.

Buhari noted that his visit to Ebonyi was an affirmation of his government's commitment to achieve a united Nigeria for the benefit of all citizens.

Buhari was conferred with the two traditional chieftaincy titles, Enyioma 1 of Ebonyi by Ebonyi traditional council of rulers and Ochioha NdiIgbo 1 by South East traditional council of rulers.

"I am delighted to be in Abakaliki today to interact with the good of Ebonyi State and again with the South East region as a whole".

"I thank the citizens of Ebonyi for their warm reception and hospitality since my arrival which has made me happy to be in the state".

Former Governor of the state, Sam Egwu, commended the president for the recent decision to pay former Biafra Police officers pensions.

"Ibiam is a great Nigerian whose contributions and notable record in humanitarian-free primary education advocacy and rural development have been inspirational to all".

In an address presented on behalf of Ebonyi Elders, Egwu also called for urgent intervention by the federal government to curb intra-communal clashes as well as cross-border disputes in the region. I thank you for this honour and kind gesture.

Buhari was welcomed at the airport by governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Rochas Okorocha of Imo, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi.

"I wish to congratulate Mr. President for this honour of visiting the state". It is an honour that is well deserved, Your Excellency.
