They are scheduled to appear in court in Brussels on November 17.

Demonstrator Miroslav Mitrofanov said Friday's gathering in Riga was "in solidarity with Catalan comrades" of which "some are facing serious accusations and we don't think that is justified". The party is different from Latvia's pro-Moscow social democratic party Harmony.

The crimes under investigation of Catalan lawmakers are punishable under Spanish law with up to 30 years in prison.

The Supreme Court had summoned them to answer charges of rebellion after they enabled an October 27 declaration of independence that prompted the Spanish government to dissolve the Catalan parliament and sack the regional administration.

They will also be released on bail at €25,000 ($29,000), the court ruled.

Supreme Court Judge Pablo Llarena had ruled Thursday that five Catalonian legislators could be freed on bail, including Carme Forcadell, a pro-independence activist and former speaker of the Catalonia Parliament.

Forcadell left the Alcala Meco jail close to Madrid in an official Catalan parliament vehicle shortly after 2 p.m. (1300 GMT).

The speaker of Catalonia's parliament has been told she must pay a £130,000 bail after being held on rebellion charges for her role in the region's declaration of independence.

Forcadell, along with four other elected members of the Catalan government, spent Thursday night behind bars but were able to leave once they paid bail.

The five, and one other who was released, had been quizzed in the rebellion investigation following the Catalan parliament's October 27 secession declaration.

Ms Forcadell, long one of the leading figures of the Catalan independence movement, testified on Thursday that the independence declaration was "symbolic", according to lawyers familiar with the proceedings.

The High Court last week issued an arrest warrant on rebellion charges for Mr. Puigdemont, the former regional government president, and four former members of his cabinet who are with him in Brussels.

The court will decide whether to remand the speaker, Carme Forcadell, and the lawmakers while the investigation continues or release them under certain conditions.

Eight former members of the Catalan government and the leaders of the two main pro-independence grassroots groups remain in custody awaiting trial at the High Court on charges of rebellion and sedition.

Foreign Minister Alfonso Dastis told Cope radio it "remains to be seen" if she will keep her word, adding that if she doesn't, he expected the judge to review the release decision.
