Spurs face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off, the first time the two sides meet this season as Pochettino looks for his side to secure a sixth Premier League win in their last seven top-tier outings.

Cech said: "As a team we feel that - although there is a lot of speculation, their contracts are different to everyone else's - you can see they are committed".

"Spurs are the better team right now but to really have the upper hand they have to do it consistently over the new few years, although with the talented young squad they have I don't see why that won't be the case".

Tottenham Hotspur central defender Jan Vertonghen was held out of Tuesday's 3-3 global friendly draw with Mexico after he tweaked his ankle in training with the Belgium national team earlier in the week. We were under pressure the last couple of years, people talking about winning trophies, obviously we are disappointed not to have won the title but we won FA Cups.

But Cech insists the title - and not just leapfrogging Tottenham - is still the Gunners' target.

This term, third-placed Spurs are already four points and three places clear of Arsenal, who trail leaders Manchester City by 12 points.

"Success is ultimately winning trophies".

Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon insists Sanchez and Ozil would have been "shown the door" if they had played in the teams of his era, but Cech has defended his team-mates.

The big factor was the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino. "There was always something missing but I would say the difference was when Pochettino came".

"Last year was a odd season, we had more points but we finished outside of the top four".

"Tottenham have also been impressive and I had thought they would struggle going for the title with the Wembley and playing in the Champions League but they've gotten over it really well, so I'd have them third in the mix", he added.
