The theme of this year's conference focuses on inclusive and sustainable development using cyber technology.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two-day Global Conference on Cyberspace in Delhi.

"Today, digital technology has emerged as a great enabler".

The prime minister said, "We are using mobile power or M-power to empower our citizens". This transition, to a blend of expertise and experience, is the contribution of the cyber world. It offers equity of access and equality of opportunity. Stories of hacking and defacement of websites are the tip of an iceberg. We need to ensure that vulnerable sections of our society do not fall prey to the evil designs of cybercriminals.

The internet, by nature, is inclusive and not exclusive.

Mr Modi said digital technology also contributing to farm incomes.

Emphasising on the importance of partnering with the private sector for cyber security, she said, "It is the area where malign and malicious elements are always one or two steps ahead of govt and industry, therefore, the govt has to partner with the private sector to ensure that we do enough". "Cyberspace technology must remain enablers for the common man and the people". At the 23rd interaction through PRAGATI - the ICT-based, multi-modal platform - with top Central bureaucrats and chief secretaries of various states, he emphasised on the need for improvement in the administrative arrangement to benefit consumers. The application will provide over a hundred e-government services to citizens. PRAGATI has put back on track infrastructure projects worth billions of dollars which were stuck in red-tape.

The MyGov platform is a prime example of how technology strengthens offices.

It is our firm belief that there are millions of Indians, whose transformative ideas can go a long way in taking India to new heights.

Incepted in 2011 in London, second GCCS was held in 2012 in Budapest with focus on relationship between internet rights and internet security, which was attended by 700 delegates from almost 60 countries.

If a mechanism such as this takes shape, India is ready to play its role in the global cyber community, the official added. The fourth version GCCS 2015 was held on April 16-17, 2015 in The Hague, Netherlands which saw participation from 97 countries.
