Hundreds of Android apps might be removed from the Google Play ...

UC Browser has over 500 million downloads, and is a popular alternative to Chrome in India. UC Browser - not once - but oftentimes have been under scrutiny regarding data security concerns.

Do you think this is a step in the right direction by Google to pull down UC Browser Down from its Play Store?

Presently, searching for UC Browser on Google Play brings UC Browser Mini, which is the lightweight mobile browser by UCWeb.

The browser disappearance was first spotted on Reddit (via Android Authority) and users have an interesting theory regarding it.

Although UC Browser isn't available for download, UC Browser Mini is still up on the Play Store.

This is great for Android fans since it gives them a wider range of options to choose from when it comes to mobile browsers.

Alibaba-owned UC Browser has been removed by Google for allegedly sending user data to remote servers in China. This browser has been developed with one goal in mind, and that's to offer fast download speeds and a premium user experience.

UCWeb has also claimed that Indian users make up 100 million of its total monthly active users from around the world, with the latter figure reportedly reaching 420 million, per reports from 2016. However, Android Police's founder Artem Russakovskii posted about an email from UC Union (which is the company's network affiliate) which talks about UC Browser using "Malicious Promotion" methods.

While there is no official confirmation about the ban so far, a Twitter users who claims to work for UC Browser said that the delisting of the app would be in effect for 30 days.

This falls in line with a report which emerged in August this year that pointed out that, UC Browser was under the government's scanner for alleged leak of mobile data of its Indian users. The report said that people had complained that the browser was controlling the device's DNS even after uninstallation.
