IDF deploys Iron Dome for fear of Islamic Jihad retaliation

Islamic Jihad has sworn revenge after a tunnel the group dug from Gaza into Israel was demolished last month, killing a dozen militants. Twelve Hamas and PIJ fighters, including senior military commanders, were killed in the subsequent explosions in the tunnel.

In response to Mordechai, the terror group reaffirmed its "right to respond to the crime of aggression on the resistance tunnel".

Israeli forces arrested Islamic Jihad leader Tariq Qaadan from his home in the West Bank on Monday morning.

The Israel Defense Forces blew up the tunnel, which originated in the Gazan city of Khan Younis and crossed into Israeli territory, near Kibbutz Kissufim, on October 30.

He added that despite the UK's attempts to suppress it, "Palestine" survived thanks to the martyrs who had given their lives or been imprisoned for fighting for their country and carrying out terror "operations" against Israel.

According to Palestinian media, Hamas encouraged Islamic Jihad to abstain from retaliating both in order to prevent further escalation with Israel and to prevent the reconciliation talks it has been conducting with the Palestinian Authority from falling apart.

Tareq Ka'adan, a leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorist organization was arrested late Sunday night by the IDF, according to Galei Tzahal radio. Gen. Yoav Mordechai warned the Islamic Jihad to abandon plans to take revenge on Israel, saying that Israel knows of their plans and is prepared to repel them.

Meanwhile, the IDF is on high alert along the Israel-Gaza border.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at Israel's weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, "There are those who still amuse themselves these days by trying to renew attacks against Israel".

If it holds, the deal will allow the Fatah-led Palestinian government in Ramallah to assume political and administrative responsibility for the Gaza Strip.
