However, with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doing his best to single-handedly wreck Goodell's extension as part of Jones' ongoing feud with the commissioner, things have gotten ugly in the prolonged discussions.

"He's served about 60 percent, roughly, 65 percent of this contract", Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Tuesday.

Jones has pushed back against the National Football League possibly extending Goodell's contract, even hiring lawyer David Boies and threatening a potential lawsuit if the transaction goes through.

"I like to hope that Tyron (Smith) is back" said Jones.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not anxious about backlash over his attempts to slow down Roger Goodell's new deal.

Per Florio, Article VIII of the NFL's constitution and bylaws says the commissioner can determine if an owner "has been or is guilty of conduct detrimental to the welfare of the League or professional football". Jones, who had been a nonvoting member of the committee, was immediately thrown out of the group after he threatened to sue the six other owners.

"We've got all the time in the world to extend [Goodell]", Jones said.

ESPN reported on Sunday that Goodell was seeking a $50 million per year contract extension.

Jones' battle with the league has heightened in recent weeks with his frustration with Goodell. Per the Times report, Jones could be subject to fines, loss of draft picks and even a suspension for his attempts to halt the commish's new deal. Jones has reportedly been unhappy with Goodell since the league suspended Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott over domestic violence allegations.

The six people on the committee - the owners of the Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans - have spoken regularly with other owners about the status of the negotiations, and Blank briefed all owners on the contract talks at leaguewide meeting in mid-October. He'll miss three more games before his next schedule court date on December 1.
