"Yes, there needs to be action surrounding sentencing reform, but there needs to also be action taken around abolishing the racialized norms of injustice that can lead to Meek Mill serving 2-4 years in prison for non-violent parole violations, and Brock Turner serving 3 months in prison for three felony counts of sexual assault".

Rubin will also attended a Monday rally for the rapper which calls for justice for Meek and others. "We stand for justice".

Supporters of the jailed rapper Meek Mill will hold a rally Monday night outside a Philadelphia courthouse.

The rapper was sentenced to up to four years in prison last week, after he was arrested for popping wheelies on his dirt bike and getting into a fight earlier this year.

According to People magazine, Mill was arrested in August and was charged with reckless endangerment in New York City.

Rubin also vowed his support for the rapper, writing, "I want you to know that I am personally invested in helping him so that he can help others".

Mill's lawyer Joe Tacopina told the site that he's filing the motions because he claims the judge has a personal vendetta against Mill.

Tacopina alleged that Brinkley once asked the 29-year-old rapper to re-record the Boyz II Men song "On Bended Knee", and conclude the track with a tribute to her. "She said, 'I'm serious.' He refused to do that", he said Wednesday. He took a plea for the charge in NYC and the airport assault was was dropped, but it was still enough for the judge in Philly to violated Williams and sit him behind bars for what many say was an overzealous sentence. The letter was written three days prior to Meek Mill's sentencing. You gave me the ladder to do what I have to do to prevail in my struggle.
