Mohamed Salah has congratulated Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Tunisia for making history as the first time four Arab countries qualify for the Fifa World Cup finals.

Unbeaten Tunisia collected 14 points to book a first World Cup appearance since 2006, DR Congo had 13, Libya four and Guinea three.

But after weathering an early storm, including a potential penalty call, Morocco scored two goals in the space of five minutes to put themselves on their way to the finals, in which they last appeared in 1998, in France.

Both nations were unable to qualify, with Nigeria already set for their place in Russian Federation. It is the fifth time that the Moroccan national football team gets qualified for the global FIFA competition.

The "Atlas Lions" are going back to the tournament for the first time since 1998 after finishing with 12 points, having not conceded a goal during the six-match group campaign.

West Africa has dominated Africa's contingent at the World Cup in recent years but some of its big names missed out this time: Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon and Ghana, all African champions multiple times, won't be in Russian Federation.

"Therefore you have to play without sparing yourself in order to win it...but defeat never crossed my mind" Renard who coached the Ivorians to the 2015 title of the African Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea said.

Dirar's in-swinging cross beat everyone and found the corner of the net in the 25th minute.

Nigeria were the first African nation to book a place in Russian Federation after last month's 1-0 win over Zambia in Uyo with Egypt and Senegal, who beat South Africa 2-0 in a replayed game in Polokwane on Friday, having also qualified.
