Children's Day special: This is how Bollywood celebrates on Twitter

"Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary", the Prime Minister tweeted.

Children's Day or Bal Diwas, in Hindi, is a day when students across schools enjoy various activities, participate in debates and other extra-curricular activities. Before Pandit Nehru's death, India used to celebrate Children's Day on November 20, which is observed as Universal Children's Day by The United Nations. There may be many underprivileged children who need such recreation in a country like ours but they can't afford to spend their time and money. Former president Pranab Mukherjee and former prime minister Manmohan Singh paid floral tributes at Nehru's memorial at Shanti Van early in the morning. Today is his 128th birth anniversary. "He reminds us: "there is nothing more horrifying than stupidity in action" - Jawaharlal Nehru". "INC wishes you a Happy Children's Day".

Many top political leaders took to Twitter on Tuesday to pay their tribute to India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 128th birth anniversary. However, after Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru's death in 1964, it was decided unanimously to commemorate his birth anniversary as Children's Day in the country.

"Under the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi, Panditji created a conducive atmosphere for the establishment of independent institutions which strengthened our parliamentary democracy". For his fond love towards children, he got the title of Chacha Nehru or Chacha Ji.
