Ruben Loftus-Cheek had 'vision' to leave Chelsea and accelerate career

Jordan Pickford, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham will all make their debut for England against Germany at Wembley on Friday.

Loftus-Cheek looked like a seasoned worldwide on the Wembley turf, pulling off a nutmeg and a Cruyff turn in the first half before being clattered as he played with a real swagger against Joachim Low's silverware-heavy team.

The Chelsea midfielder, on-loan at Crystal Palace, impressed at the base of the Three Lions midfield against the world champions on his global bow.

Gareth Southgate's side more than held their own against Joachim Low's side and could have snatched a dramatic injury time victor had Jesse Lingard converted from point blank range.

The countries clash for the 32nd time in their history, and with the duo level on 13 wins apiece, a victor tonight will take the lead in their head-to-head battle.

"Again, I remember his first couple of under-21 games with us and you're thinking that he's quick around the goal, he makes saves", the England boss continued. I certainly learned a lot in this game. He just said: "do your best like you normally do".

"Be more like, "I'm the man". I've settled in really well and they've given me a platform to go out and play.

England's best chance of the half came when Abraham's shot on the turn was deflected just a whisker wide off Antonio Rudiger.

Tonight is undoubtedly a golden opportunity for Abraham and Loftus-Cheek to not only show Chelsea why they should be back at the club and playing regularly next season, but perhaps to also push for a place at next summer's World Cup. Obviously against a well-oiled machine they will have periods in the game where they control possession but I didn't think they hurt us.
