All were in their 20s and 30s when the alleged harassment took place from the 1990s to as recently as 2011.

Rose routinely landed the biggest names in global politics, entertainment and letters for his interview show "Charlie Rose". Rose is also a contributing correspondent for 60 Minutes.

Bloomberg, which also aired his program, also cut ties with him - effectively ending his nightly talk show.

Reuters could not independently verify the accounts of the women. For all of the women, reporters interviewed friends, colleagues or family members who said the women had confided in them about aspects of the incidents.

The five women who spoke to The Post on condition of anonymity did so over fears of Rose's stature in the media industry.

"I can't stop thinking about the anguish of these women, what happened to their dignity, what happened to their bodies, what happened maybe to even their careers".

"It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior". I am greatly embarrassed.

Rose said that he has behaved insensitively at times "and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate".

Rose issued an apology on Monday and said he had always felt he was "pursuing shared feelings", but now realises he was mistaken. "When you were doing the monologue about other people I was like, 'Ah-ha, ' and then it was Charlie and I thought, 'He's a friend.' It's hard". All of us, including me, are coming to a newer and deeper recognition of the pain caused by conduct in the past, and have come to a profound new respect for women and their lives.”.

Several "described Rose putting his hand on their legs, sometimes their upper thigh".

Rose suspended over sexual abuse claims

The women, who all worked for Rose or tried to work for him, accused the veteran newsman of groping them, walking naked in front of them and telling one that he dreamed about her swimming nude.

"That's what you have to do", she said. The show, which was broadcast nationally starting in 1994, was produced by the host's independent television production company.

"It is systematic and pervasive, and I've been doing a lot of listening and I'm going to continue to do that", she said. “He was a sexual predator, and I was his victim.”.

When Gayle King scheduled Tuesday's appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", her plan was to discuss "Oprah's Favorite Things", a holiday project with her friend Oprah Winfrey.

Ms King said she was still processing the "horrible" accusations.

Bloomberg said it was "deeply disturbed" by the allegations against Rose and said it was "immediately suspending the show from airing on Bloomberg TV". "Knock it off, '" she told Colbert. That said, Charlie does not get a pass here.

The key, she said, is knowing where the line is.

Hours later, three new accusers who work at CBS News came forward with claims against Rose, according to the broadcaster. “I failed. It is crushing.

"I think when the conversation begins to be more public, its nearly like it established permission to talk about the pain that they've experienced".
