About 1 SUV traveling with five people inside crashed after losing control under the 8 Mile Road overpass - killing all but one person inside reports WWJ's Charlie Langton.

Four people are dead after a horrific crash along eastbound I-94 in Harper Woods in the early hours Monday.

A woman who lives in the area told Local 4 that crashes are commonplace on this stretch of I-94.

The boy was walking with firefighters.

The deceased have been identified as driver Doreal Rogers, 20; front-seat passenger Alesia Maddox, 20; and Armonie Maddox and Ervin Johnson, both 18, who were in the back.

Police believe speed, and wet weather played a role in the crash.

Police say that the 2006 Buick SUV was traveling in the left lane and passing other vehicles at a high speed when the driver lost control, crossed three lanes of traffic and slammed into a bridge at 1 a.m. on November 13. The vehicle crossed three lanes of traffic before hitting a bridge.

None of the four adults were wearing seat belts, police said.

The adults all were between 18 and 25 years old.

The child, who had just turned 1 on Saturday, was strapped into a auto seat. "It always seems it's either right before the bridge over here, or right here", Shannon Thurman said.

"Alesia was the best mom that anybody could as for as a young mother, I taught her right", said Lolonda. "It happens all the time".

The two men were ejected from the vehicle and were found on the interstate.
