Morocco Outclass CIV To Seal World Cup Spot Tunisia Through

Tunisia qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation despite being held 0-0 at home by Libya in their final Group A qualifier.

They topped the group on 12 points, four above the Ivorians.

The last time Morocco qualified to the World Cup was in France 1998.

They'll join Nigeria, Egypt and Senegal as the continent's five representatives at next year's tournament in Russian Federation.

The Atlas lions have roared back for a 2-0 win to beat Ivory coast in Abidjan.

But it proved to be enough and, after missing out in 2010 and 2014, Tunisia will be at the World Cup for a fifth time.

West Africa has dominated Africa's contingent at the World Cup in recent years but some of its big names missed out this time: Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Ghana, all African champions multiple times, won't be in Russian Federation.

The Moroccan footballers have fulfilled their vow and booked a ticket to the 2018 World Cup for the first time in 20 year.

Marc Wilmots' side were dominant in possession with almost 60 percent of the ball, but it wasn't utilized and the African nation will miss out the World Cup as a result.

Nabil Dirar scored during the the first half time, Mehdi Benatia did the same minutes later.

The hosts poured men forward for most of the rest of the match, but Morocco generally looked in control of things at the back and held on comfortably, giving Herve Renard - the coach who ended Ivory Coast's Africa Cup of Nations drought in 2015 - a famous victory against his former team.

The Ivorians continued to pressurise the visitors with 10 minutes to play but they lacked the sense of urgency for a team that needed three goals in the remaining minutes to qualify.

Dirar gave his side the lead in the 25 minute when a cross-cum-shot from the Fenerbahçe winger eluded Ivory Coast keeper Sylvain Gbohouo.
