Alan Pardew to hold talks with Jonny Evans over West Brom future

West Brom boss Alan Pardew was delighted with Sam Field's performance for their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.

The club plan to offer a new contract and Pardew is keen to meet Evans after being appointed team boss on Wednesday.

"If we work like that every week, I'll be pleased", Pardew said. It's just disappointing we couldn't send our fans home with a win.

Pardew told the club's: "I'm thrilled with the opportunity Albion have provided and looking forward to getting to work with what I consider to be a talented group of players".

The manager was dealt a blow when keeper Wayne Hennessey injured himself in the warm-up, which resulted in Julian Speroni taking his place back in goal.

"We got to Euston station in good time and got on the train at 3.23pm, but at 3.30pm it suddenly stopped dead because of problems with the wires overhead". It actually took five and a half hours and three of that was spent in a cold, black situation on the train with no lights, no toilet facilities, nothing at all.

"Instead of being there at 4.45pm we arrived at 9.30pm. We're constantly aware we need every point that's there to be had - and people are reminding us all the time we haven't scored yet", he said.

Crystal Palace survived a troublesome journey to the game and a spate of last-minute injury absences to draw 0-0 at West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League on Saturday.
