Clarence native sues NFL Hall of Fame QB over sexual harassment

Former Houston Oilers quarterback Warren Moon is accused of sexually harassment and assault by his executive assistant in a lawsuit

Former Houston Oilers quarterback Warren Moon is accused of sexually harassment and assault by his executive assistant in a lawsuit

The lawsuit was filed in California against Moon and his company, Sports 1 Marketing, and according to Haskell's lawyer, the defendants have 30 days to respond upon being served.

The Hall of Fame quarterback has been working as a color commentator for the Seahawks radio network, but has requested a leave of absence.

A woman claimed Moon grabbed her crotch during a business trip to Seattle earlier this year, required her to wear thong underwear and share his bed during other business trips and pulled off her bathing suit after slipping a drug into her drink during a business trip to Mexico in October. According to court documents, Wendy Haskell alleges Moon made "unwanted and unsolicited" sexual advances as part of her role as his assistant.

Moon eventually got a chance to play for the Houston Oilers in 1984 and would put up huge passing numbers in the "run and shoot" offense.

Moon, 61, was involved in a handful of controversies during his National Football League playing days with the Houston Oilers (now the Titans), where he starred as quarterback from 1984-93, and with the Vikings, Seahawks and Chiefs before retiring in 2000. Haskell alleges that she was then demoted by the firm after more complaints about Moon's sexual advances. He was the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year in 1989, but has since been involved in multiple scandals related to women.

Authorities in Texas charged Moon with assault anyway, but he was acquitted by a jury after his wife testified that she had provoked the fight. The lawsuit claims that Moon required Haskell to sleep in the same bed as him and wear "skimpy thong lingerie bottoms".

Haskell declined to comment through her attorney, Diana Fitzgerald of Miami, Florida.

First, a Vikings cheerleader accused Moon of sexual harassment while he played for the team in 1995. "I think she was scared", she said.

Global News called Sports 1 Marketing twice for comment on Wednesday but on both occasions were told nobody was available to speak.

"Whenever Ms. Haskell expressed reservations about these outrageous "job duties", Moon insisted this was "just the way it is", and threatened Ms. Haskell that unless she was "comfortable" with him, he'd "find someone else who was".
