Pep Guardiola was very clear in his pre-match press conference that his team will take West Ham very seriously, regardless of the Hammers' awful form. I can't think, "It's West Ham we can make six or seven changes and the second team is going to play". Usually you have one week to work for a game because you are not in global competition, so (as a manager) you try to convince the players you can do it.

His men need to swallow all the negativity and pressure and step in the pitch with a determined mindset and calm attitude if they are to cause any difficulties for the league leaders. I think it's ridiculous. Some may be against that, but the opportunity to rotate the squad and rest players will come in the Champions League match on Wednesday, so it makes sense to pick the big boys in this one to hopefully secure a more comfortable victory.

Manchester City are showing that they mean business this season.Pep seems to have finally found a foothold in shaping up a great side with his team producing results that have far exceeded people's expectations.

"I was hoping it would be a bit easier, to be honest", the Scot said.

"If the reason why he's scored a lot of goals is because he's out of social media then I'll say it to all the players!" said Guardiola. And the best respect is to be serious and play as well as possible. The Hammers have gone seven league games without a win and now sit in the bottom three on the table.

David Moyes has endured a rather torrid start to his time in East London with West Ham.

Manchester City have won each of their last 12 Premier League - a club record.

And although he doesn't dispute the quality within the City ranks, the former Manchester United boss believes they have weaknesses that his side can exploit.

While not referring to Moyes' style, Guardiola did say that his priority managing a team at the bottom would be to try and flood them with confidence. "But you never know in football". I think it is quite simple really, human beings are the same, after you get one or two good results, your mood is higher'.

Watch Manchester City v West Ham on Super Sunday. Goalkeeper Hart is ineligible on Sunday as he only signed on loan.

"I wouldn't say they've got a long way to go but what I would say is they've not done anything yet as far as they've not won the [league] yet", said Moyes. Even if the next game is West Ham.
