"I had no intention of dropping John and Bob and I told Elton so".

Ms Farebrother and her musician son did not speak for many years, but had more recently reconciled their differences and were back in touch.

"I got this package from Eminem and shows you how homophobic he isn't", Sir Elton told The Graham Norton Show during his recent guest spot.

He also said that he only saw her on Monday and that he was in "shock". John revealed their reconciliation on Mother's Day this year, writing on Instagram, "Dear Mum, Happy Mother's Day!" "And to that I said to him, 'And you think more of that f-king thing you married than your own mother.'" Farebrother also held a grudge against John for not visiting his stepfather before his death in 2010.

The 70-year-old singer-songwriter had not spoken to his mother until the rekindled their relationship in May of this year.

It seems the two of them first fell out back in 2008, when she refused to break contact with two of Elton's friends despite him having severed his relationship with them.

The death comes just months after the pair buried an nine-year feud with the superstar saying he will miss her "so much".

Mrs Farebrother, who lived in a bungalow on the South Coast, said: 'I told him: "I'm not about to do that and drop them".

"Bob is like a son to me".

Sir Elton had been performing on stage at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona on Sunday, December 3, just before his mother Sheila Farebrother died in West Sussex where she lived.
