Installing Direct app will remove the message section from the Instagram app.

The Direct app will be available in Israel, Italy, Chile, Portugal, Turkey, and Uruguay starting today both on Android and iOS.

As per reports, Instagram is busy with the making of a stand-alone messaging app. Instead, you'll have to DM your friends through Direct. Opening the app, you will see camera similar to Snapchat.

Instagram-The photo sharing application is working on a derivative messaging application called Direct, which would eventually be removing the built-in direct message facility within the main application. This is similar to how Snapchat opens, which is a way to encourage users to start taking and sharing photos. All you have to do is swipe left once you are in the Direct inbox to reveal Instagram icon which will direct you to the Instagram app. Since Instagram is also positioning Direct as a camera-first app, it also comes with four exclusive filters which aren't available in the main Instagram app. The inbox houses all of the user's received messages, while the profile screen lets users access the app's settings.

Direct has some 375 million users as of April, which is one good reason for Facebook to want to turn it into a standalone app.

Well, get ready for the sequel, as the same thing is about to happen with Instagram.

Instagram has reportedly yet to attach a time frame for separating Direct Messages from its popular mobile app, though that appears to be a long-term goal for the company and one that's expected to be achieved at some point in 2018. When Facebook originally moved Messenger out of Facebook, the company faced a lot of backlash but it has been able to exponentially grow Messenger ever since. Now it has over 1.3 billion.

In case, Instagram launched Direct globally, for which no current timeline has been given so far, Facebook would become an owner of the third famous messaging tool alongside WhatsApp and Messenger.
