Since Derek Jeter and his group purchased the Miami Marlins for roughly $1.2 billion, Giancarlo Stanton has wanted out.

Stanton likely would have solidified the Astros as the World Series favorite entering 2018, but based on the youth and talent still on the roster, they remain a strong bet to repeat regardless. The richest contract signed in Major League Baseball history also has an opt-out clause after the 2020 season. There are plenty teams who need help in the outfield. There is one team that Stanton wants to go to and is willing to take on the rest of his mega-deal.

The Giants and Marlins have reportedly agreed on a general framework, but the decision ultimately comes down to Stanton. The Giants were rumored to have offered four players including their top three prospects for the slugger this week. He is hearing that the Giants would send Tyler Beede, Heliot Ramos, Chris Shaw, and Christian Arroyo. However, the holdup with this trade from being complete is the approval of Stanton. Evans confirmed that the trade has contingencies, including the fact that Stanton has to approve the trade since he has full no-trade clause.

In the past few days, progress has been made in talks with the Giants and Cardinals, but it remains unclear if a deal could be made before the Winter Meetings begin on Monday in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. However, there is a feeling that the Dodgers could ruin the possible trade. "I mean from everything we've heard he really does want to play on the West Coast".
