"Late, we weren't able to secure a couple of defensive rebounds", Snyder said.

The big Kiwi centre scored 20 points on 9-10 shooting and collected nine rebounds in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 100-94 win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.

Rookie Donovan Mitchell scored 31 points and Joe Ingles added 16 for the Jazz, who had won six straight and scored at least 106 points in each game.

With Utah's suffocating defense, Oklahoma City looked lifeless early with only 39 points in the first half and falling behind by as much as 17 in the third.

"Russell Westbrook, the MVP of the league, got going", Utah coach Quin Snyder said. "I thought in the third quarter he gave them a lot of energy and gave them points". OK, well: it was kind of a surprise to a little girl named Heaven, who didn't know she was scheduled to be Russ' shopping partner for the evening until he ran up to her. He had 15 points and nine rebounds before leaving.

"The reason why Steven is doing what he's doing is because of Carmelo Anthony and Paul George", Oklahoma City coach Billy Donovan said.

"It's satisfying that we got a win, man", Westbrook said when asked if he found gratification in the diversity of the offense in crunch time. "The offensive rebounds are killers".

Anthony had 14 points for his first double-digit scoring performance in the win streak. Anthony scored the next time down the floor and Oklahoma City led 90-87. What was supposed to be a scary month of December has started out really well for the Jazz as they are now 2-0 following Monday's absolute annihilation of the Washington Wizards by a score of 116-69. Then, with Westbrook on the bench, the Thunder closed the gap behind Paul George and Jerami Grant as the Jazz went cold. Westbrook had 11 of his 34 in the third, plus four assists.

The Thunder outrebounded the Jazz 23-13 in the fourth quarter.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have overcome their recent slump and are now on a three-game winning streak as things look to finally be moving in the right direction for the team. A Westbrook turnover led to a 3-point play by Alec Burks. Utah G Thabo Sefolosha played in the game a night after being removed by referees when he took an elbow to the head from teammate Neto. Roberson shot only twice and scored four points. They'll be looking to make it seven straight when they visit the enigmatic Oklahoma City Thunder for a Tuesday showdown (8 p.m. ET).
