Time magazine has named its Person of the Year for 2017.

After The New York Times and The New Yorker published accusations of sexual harassment and assault against Weinstein, many more women and some men came forward with allegations against others - including actor Kevin Spacey, comedian Louis C.K. and former NBC anchor Matt Lauer.

This year's short list was dominated by men, including Chinese president Xi Jinping, special prosecutor Robert Mueller, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and National Football League player Colin Kaepernick.

"These silence breakers have started a revolution of refusal, gathering strength by the day, and in the past two months alone, their collective anger has spurred immediate and shocking results: almost every day, CEOs have been fired, moguls toppled, icons disgraced".

The shortlist for the honor was revealed Monday morning on the Today show.

Time also conducted a reader poll, which the magazine says was won by Mohammed bin Salman, with 24 percent of the votes. Last month, Trump sent out a tweet saying he "took a pass" at being named Person of the Year for a second year in a row.

"The idea that influential, inspirational individuals shape the world could not be more apt this year".

Trump, who was named Person of the Year in 2016, was nominated again after a tumultuous first year in office.

The magazine nominated North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom Trump has nicknamed "Little Rocket Man" and who has overseen ballistic missile tests that have raised fears of a nuclear confrontation.

Robert Mueller - Appointed special counsel following FBI Director James Comey's firing to investigate possible collusion between President Trump's 2016 campaign team and Russian Federation.

Two of the 10 nominees are groups, not individuals. Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct but has denied any wrongdoing. Tied for third were Kaepernick, Mueller, and Dreamers (undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S.as children) with 5 percent.

It was the 91st year that the magazine has recognized the person or group of people who most influenced the news during the past year. Other players followed, and President Trump supercharged the controversy.

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick started a movement when he took a knee during the National Anthem previous year to protest racial injustice.
