Production on Queen biopic halted due to Bryan Singer's 'unexpected unavailability'

The studio issued this vague statement: "Twentieth Century Fox Film has temporarily halted production on Bohemian Rhapsody due to the unexpected unavailability of Bryan Singer".

Tom Hollander, who plays Queen manager Jim Beach, also is said to have briefly quit the film because of Singer's behavior, but was persuaded to return, according to one source.

Fox has halted production on its Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" over director Bryan Singer's disappearance.

Making matters worse, tensions between Malek and Singer got to the point where the two had a heated altercation on set.

The two eventually made a decision to move forward, but after Singer did not return to the set after Thanksgiving - he's reportedly told people he's been suffering P.T.S.D. because of on-set friction - Sigel directed several scenes and production was stopped.

Many thought this reasoning seemed fishy, as reports said that Singer and actor Rami Malek, who plays Freddie Mercury, feuded on set. In his absence, Sigel stepped in to helm several days of shooting before the production was shut down. It was reported the two settled their differences, and filming was set to resume-that was until Singer fired. The two have apparently patched things up now, but one insider told the Reporter that Singer is dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder because of the set's tense atmosphere.

Whatever Singer's reasons are for abandoning Bohemian Rhapsody, he'll now be forced to watch Fox and producer Graham King hire someone else to finish the film. Malek complained to the studio, according to THR, claiming that the director was not showing up and that he was both unreliable and unprofessional.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25, 2018.
