All said and done, Samsung will definitely be focussed on perfecting its 3D facial recognition technology in time for the Galaxy S9 launch in order to compete with the iPhone X and its Face ID. All other colours mentioned including black, blue and gold have been offered with the recently launched Galaxy Note 8. One of the phones we know Samsung plans to unveil very soon is the Galaxy A7 (2018).

The South Korean giant is also reportedly working on a foldable smartphone codenamed Galaxy X which can see the light of day sometime in the coming years alongside a flip phone.

Earlier this year, it was rumored that the Galaxy S8 would have purple as one of its color options.

Samsung is expected to debut the Galaxy S9 next year, probably just prior to the start of Barcelona's annual Mobile World Congress tech tradeshow. The S8's fingerprint scanner placement was something that many didn't like.

Samsung will be using the Camera of the phone to take a picture of the palm and the combination of lines on the palm will be matched with the ones stored on the device. However, a source suggests that the Galaxy S9 fingerprint sensor won't be integrated into the display.

Though the device does not seem to feature Samsung's Infinity Display, as was speculated earlier, the device still comes with an impressive screen to body ratio.

It isn't clear if this will make it to a Samsung handset in the near future, but it's an interesting idea that could allow for multi-factor authentication for greater security, or an on-device method for helping your recall your forgotten password.
