Fire At Cracker Warehouse In Delhi

At least 17 people were killed after fire broke out at a plastic godown in Bawana Industrial Area in New Delhi on Saturday.

Fire officials said the victims were trapped inside the factory as there was no exit route, The Times of India reported. Authorities said that people died due to fire as well as asphyxiation and cause of this disaster is yet to be known.

The police also confirmed 17 people were killed and said an FIR has been registered.

Atul Garg the DFS was alerted about the fire at 6:20 pm, following which, 15 Fire tenders were deputed to the spot. "Keeping a close watch on rescue operations", Kejriwal said in a tweet. North Delhi mayor Preety Agarwal has rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Shortly after the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief in a tweet. Ordered inquiry", Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain tweeted.Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal siad, " very sad to hear about large number of casualties.

Three fire incidents were reported from the Bawana area today, and in two of those, there have been no reports of any casualty so far. The Delhi government is closely monitoring the situation.

Rohini DCP Rajneesh Gupta said four people have died in the blaze.
