- The sole victor of the $451 million Mega Millions jackpot has stepped forward to claim his prize.

The teenager who won $450 million Mega Millions jackpot has been identified as 20-year-old Shane Missler from Florida.

Shane Missler, a 20-year-old from Port Richey, Florida who won the $451 million Mega Millions jackpot lottery, chose to take the lump sum payout and now has a net worth of $281,874,999. Missler told the paper that he planned to help his family, have some fun along the way, and make sure his financial success extended far into the future.

"If there is one thing I have learned thus far in my short time on this earth it is that those who maintain a positive mindset and stay true to themselves get rewarded", Mr Missler said.

According to WFTS, Missler has already "retired" from his job as a background screening company.

Mr Missler bought the winning ticket at a 7-Eleven in his hometown of Port Richey, 40 miles (64km) north of Tampa, using a "Quick Pick" option that selects the numbers randomly.

He said he just had "a feeling" that he might.

Missler redeemed the ticket on Friday, January 12 in Tallahassee with his father and his attorney, Walt Blenner of Blenner Law Group. "I look forward to the future". The retailer will receive $100,000 bonus commission for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. The largest Mega Millions jackpot of all time was $656 million in March 2012. "This series of jackpot rollovers is not only life-changing for this young man, it has allowed us to contribute more than $23 million to education that will greatly benefit our state's students and schools".
