In order to reach a more broad audience and re-release one of its most beloved franchises, Bandai Namco is bringing a remastered port of the original Dark Souls games across a slew of platforms. Playing the game on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X will allow players to enjoy the game at upscaled 4K resolution.

However if you don't yet have a Nintendo Switch or have yet to play Dark Souls, don't worry.

After rumors about a Dark Souls remaster for the Nintendo Switch spread around the internet yesterday, Nintendo officially announced Dark Souls Remastered for release on May 25, 2018. Additionally, the PlayStation 4 version will also come with HDR support.

We'll also see 60fps performance in the title, as the press release that comes with the statement "improved framerate and resolution from the original".

Re-experience the genre-defining title that kicked off a worldwide gaming phenomena in stunning high-definition detail.

Dark Souls, an intricate and arcane work of dark fantasy pits players against a world of demonic creatures, is widely regarded as one of the best video games of all time. It will cost $39.99 on consoles while the price for the PC version is yet to be confirmed. Keep an eye out for more news soon. The standard multiplayer system will remain, with support for up to six players at once and access to nine different covenants.

In a bit of a twist, Bandai Namco partnered with Nintendo to announce the next wave of Dark Souls ports during Thursday's truncated Nintendo Direct.

It has been reported in the past that a remastered version of Dark Souls could be in the pipeline and now we know that for sure.
