Former Cleveland boy-mayor Dennis Kucinich has designated a treasurer for the Ohio Governor's race. Kucinich ran twice for the presidency and served eight terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Kucinich, the former mayor of Cleveland, filed papers in Columbus on Monday to establish a campaign committee.

The Republican field for governor includes Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci.

Kucinich is expected to make his first public appearance Tuesday morning in Massillon at Affinity Medical Center to show support for efforts towards saving the hospital.

Ohio's Republican Gov. John Kasich is term limited.

Joining the chorus of gubernatorial candidates selecting their would-be lieutenant governors this week, Democrat Richard Cordray will announce his pick in Akron on Wednesday.

Both congressmen lost their jobs in Washington when new Republican-drawn maps in 2012 forced them into showdowns with other incumbents. The party is remaining neutral in the primary.

Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper said Kucinich was welcome into the race. At 71 years old, he has most recently made news as a Fox New contributor and a pal of Syrian butcher Bashar Al-Assad.
