"In addition to what was happening in Nazi Germany and burning books, burning people, Bradbury was anxious about mass entertainment", said creator and director Ramin Bahrani, referencing when the original novel was written and published.

Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water, Boardwalk Empire) plays Beatty, Montag's fire captain and mentor.

The Plot and Characters: Fahrenheit 451 is based on Ray Bradbury's classic novel of the same name, depicting a future where the media is an opiate, history is rewritten and "firemen" burn books.

"Between technological advancements and politics, I think Bradbury's biggest concern is now".

Ray Bradbury's classic "Fahrenheit 451" is about to burst into flame via an upcoming HBO movie, and the network released its first teaser on Thursday.

"Bradbury's novel was set in the future where he was predicting having screens on the wall that you could interact with", Bahrani told the Reporter.

Unfortunately, Fahrenheit 451 feels more relevant today than anyone probably would've guessed upon publication.

"It's not hard to control what is on the internet given that things are so centralized", he said.

"I really wanted to burn Ferdowsi, it's an Iranian epic poem, I really wanted to burn that", Bahrani said.

"I have always loved Ray Bradbury's prophetic novel Fahrenheit 451", explained Bahrani. [We] get into tweets and Wiki entries, which are shorter versions of Reader's Digest. Readers Digest, quick short soundbites, destroying the concept of reading, thinking and knowledge, he said.

Bahrani said he never had the opportunity to meet with Bradbury before his death but did an extensive amount of research, watching and reading multiple interviews and more. We're all guilty about reading headlines.

"Will we actually get ahead of the dam, or will it just be a flood and up to some other generation to bring back all of Bradbury's heroes?"

Hence, why HBO is producing a feature film adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 (FYI, that's the temperature at which book paper catches fire) and now we finally have a look at it. In the movie, it's Sofia's character who says that to Michael.
