Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner call off divorce

Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin and disgraced former NY congressman Anthony Weiner will reportedly be handling their divorce out of court.

In September 2017, Weiner was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison after he pleaded guilty months earlier to one count of transferring obscene material to a minor, a felony that carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

"In order to reduce any impact of these proceedings on their child, the parties have made a decision to reach a settlement swiftly and privately", Abedin's attorney, Charles Miller, told TMZ.

The couple was supposed to appear before a Manhattan judge Wednesday, but the judge said both sides had agreed to discontinue the case.

The disgraced pol is serving almost two years of hard time in a MA federal lockup.

Leading divorce attorney Michael Stutman, who is not involved in the case, said the former couple must agree on how to divvy up their assets and share custody of their 6-year-old son before bringing a second case.

Once a rising Democratic star, he tried to salvage his political career by running for mayor of NY in 2013 but his campaign ended amid reports of further graphic online messages.

Weiner, a disgraced politician once considered a leading Democratic figure, is now serving a 21-month sentence in MA for sending lewd photographs to a minor.
