RB Leipzig rule out Naby Keita move to Liverpool being brought forward

Liverpool have yet to make an offer to move up their acquisition of Naby Keita to this month, RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick says.

Speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast, Balague said: "I think Liverpool are going to try to offer more money if necessary, call it a loan deal, but they want to offer more money to Leipzig. Neither the player nor Liverpool have contacted us in this regard".

"The situation is the same as it was all season - there's no reason for us to let Naby Keita go early", he told the BBC.

"Keita will play against Schalke this weekend and hopefully he'll play well". He's only scored a couple of goals, he seems a little bit distant.

European's elite competition could be a vital factor in any possible deal though as RB Leipzig are fighting for qualification into the Champions League and may want to hold on to such a player.

However, after Hanover striker Niclas Fuellkrug made it 2-1 with a header towards the end of the first half, De Jong brought down midfielder Felix Klaus in the area and the referee pointed to the spot.

But Hasenhuttl insists the plan is for the 22-year-old to remain with Leipzig until the end of the season.

Fuellkrug netted the resulting penalty on 38 minutes, then hit the winning goal 15 minutes from time to complete his hat-trick.

The result leaves Stuttgart 12th, one place below Hertha, who hit the post through Austria worldwide Valentino Lazaro in the first half.

Augsburg defeated Hamburger SV 1-0 to leave the visitor stuck in the relegation zone.

But Theodor Gebre Selassie pulled Bremen level just past the hour mark, leaving Hoffenheim in eighth place on 27 points.
