The new three-spoke steering wheel now comes with multi-function buttons to control the standard audio system with a 6.5-inch color screen and features Bluetooth media streaming, navigation and Mini's Connected (similar to BMW Connected) range of digital services. All models are optionally available with the new seven-speed gearbox featuring steering wheel-mounted shift paddles, while a six-speed manual is standard.

As mentioned, buyers can now opt for LED taillights featuring a Union Jack inspired pattern and the external makeover also includes Mini's new two-dimensional logo, fresh alloy wheel designs and additional colour options, including Solaris Orange. Due in March, the updates apply to the three-door hatch, the five-door hatch and the convertible and introduces exterior tweaks, improved tech and changes to the engine line-up.

Those tech preferences also include wireless charging using a storage compartment integrated in the center armrest, which also adds a second USB port in the front section of the center console.

The Piano Black Exterior gives a black surround around headlights, rear lights, and radio grille rather than chrome. Expect the 2019 Mini Cooper to land in showrooms later this year.

The color of the backlighting matches the ambient lighting selected by the driver. Apple CarPlay is also available as an option.

All of these options are created to allow even more personalization of the highly recognizable cars. However, the changes in the new MINI are only cosmetic and come with the same engine under the hood. Examples include such dealer-installed staples as illuminated door sills, puddle lights, and interior trim accents. If the rear lights weren't British enough for you, the dashboard is now available in a wider range of finishes than before, one of which bears a Union Jack.

For those looking to take the personalization of their Mini to the next level can select and design the upgrade parts at the new Online Customizer specially developed for the new options. They can be installed by the dealer or the auto owner and can be swapped out whenever the mood strikes or if the vehicle gets sold.
