9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ Vital USA Inc., a Healthcare IoT vital sign company dedicated to bringing wellness to the consumer, in partnership with Lenovo and Motorola, announced today at CES the release of the Vital Moto Mod.

Moto in its blog post says, "We worked with developers on the moto mods ecosystem in a variety of ways - a crowdfunding campaign with Indiegogo, our Accelerator Program and distribution of our Moto Mod Development Kits (MDK) to interested dev teams".

In line with these new mods, Motorola is also announcing the moto z Market App which is simply a storefront for buying Moto Mods.

The Vital Moto Mod does what you think it does when slapped onto a Moto Z phone - it helps you keep track of your own health.

The Lenovo Vital mod is a snap-on module for the Moto Z smartphone which has an infrared temperature sensor, a finger clip for checking oxygen level and an inflatable finger cuff. This Moto Mod can "accurately" measure five vital signs: heart rate, respiratory rate, Pulse Ox, core body temperature, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure from your finger. Motorola claims that it only takes about three minutes to find out the latest statistics of all five vitals.

Motorola has mentioned that this mod will cost $99 and will be available in Winter 2018. This Moto Mod is developed by Livermorium who are the grand prize victor of the first Transform the Smartphone Challenge on Indiegogo. There is even a mechanism that will allow you to tilt the phone upwards and away up to 60-degrees to give you a better angle.

Motorola, after the success of their first Transform the Smartphone challenge in 2017, are all set to hold another one in 2018. That would mean that the mod will be drawing power from the phone and we can only hope that it will not consume too much.

Instead, Motorola is driving Moto Mod innovation and development from the outside, a strategy that is both smart and cunning.
