This year, however, it looks like the company is returning to its MWC unveiling tradition for the upcoming Galaxy S9 flagship. The phone was launched at an event in New Delhi.

Its first official appearance will be an event that will take place next month so that nearly certainly means that it will be Mobile World Congress (MWC), an annual event which takes place in Barcelona and kicks off on 26 February.

DJ Koh, Samsung's mobile chief, has confirmed that the Galaxy S9 will be debuting at MWC. According to Koh, the UX of the device has proved to be the biggest obstacle, although the company is still trying hard to fix the problem, reports Gizbot.

The price for the Galaxy S9 series is expected to be more than $800, and in India this could translate to Rs 60,000 plus going by previous pricing that Samsung has adopted. The S9 plus was rumored to be launched with the S9, but Samsung is yet to provide further details about S9's big brother. Galaxy A8+ comes with the Always On Display, allowing users to get information at a glance without unlocking their phone. The dual front camera setup on the Samsung Galaxy A8+ includes a 16-megapixel fixed focus, f/1.9 image sensor and an 8-megapixel f/1.9 sensor.

The S9 is also reported to be the first smartphone to support a 512 GB of next-generation Universal Flash Storage or eUFS.

Later South Korean publication later reported that the company was planning to host a launch event for the Galaxy S9 on February 26 - the starting date of the MWC.
