Few expected John Wick to become a franchise rich in mythology, but here we are. Meanwhile, a third John Wick film is now in production. It's very tied to the film [in that] it's about the Continentals all over the world, how certain people come into that world, and what happens in relation to those people, which is cool.

Stahelski, will direct the premiere episode of The Continental and said, "They've got a really good structure".

Chapter 3 won't be in theaters until 2019, but the movie's universe is expanding.

"The Continental" centers on the Los Angeles hotel of the same name that serves as a haven for assassins in the films starring Keanu Reeves. Starz President of Original Programming Carmi Zlotnick said Keanu Reeves will be involved in multiple capacities.

The third John Wick film is set to be in theatres May 17th, 2019 and Lionsgate picked up the rights to a script called The Ballerina that is meant to be worked into the universe, as well. "We're very excited about this".

The Continental will be executive produced by the same team behind the motion pictures, so there shouldn't be any fear that the show will stray that far from the features.

A press release elaborated that The Continental focuses on the inner workings of the hotel. Last year Chad Stahelski, who co-directed the first film and directed the second, revealed plans for a television spin-off called The Continental and now it has found a home at Starz.

Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy and The Man in the High Castle) will write and serve as series showrunner, with Keanu Reeves and the creative minds behind the movies in executive producer roles.

According to Starz CEO Chris Albrecht, "the show and the movies exist side by side". Numerous executive producers, however, are from the the films' original creative team, like Basil Iwanyk, co-director Chad Stahelski, and screenwriter Derek Kolstad.
