Limited-overs captain Morgan praised Bayliss' impact as England look to restore pride in a five-match one-day global series against Australia and build towards next year's Cricket World Cup.

England pace bowler Liam Plunkett has admitted that the upcoming ODI series against Australia provides a golden opportunity for the national team to salvage some pride on their disastrous tour Down Under.

"We are going in with the mantra that we always need to be on top of our game and testing the opposition the whole time". To be in that space you need to be setting or bucking trends or being able to adapt. They joined Summer Nightlife presenter Suzanne Hill.

One thing they do have in their favour is a relatively settled unit.

One luxury afforded to Morgan is clarity on Ben Stokes.

As has been the case with the last three squad announcements, Ben Stokes appears with a caveat next to his name, as the all-rounder waits to find out if he will be charged by the Crown Prosecution Service following an incident outside an English nightclub on September 25.

Persistent injuries have kept the Durham quick, who is capable of the kind of express pace Root's side so conspicuously lacked in the past few months, to just 10 Test caps since debuting in May 2015.He is now with England's limited-overs squad as they look to exact a measure of revenge for the Ashes.

He even has the luxury of a left-armer, David Willey, among the reserves and is enthused about the make-up of his attack.

The Cumbrian batsman edged out England Lions team-mates Dan Lawrence and Joe Clarke in a selection process delayed for 24 hours by captain Joe Root's viral illness. Chris Woakes has been Mr Reliable.

England had a day off training as they swapped Sydney for a rainy Melbourne and will hope they can dodge inclement weather long enough to have a full practice session at the MCG today. "It is how you stem the flow".

Nottinghamshire's Alex Hales also passed 50 and openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow made 40 and 36 respectively. Nearly three months ago, the all-rounder was controversially involved in a fist fight outside a bar in Bristol. Both men were suspended by England pending police investigations and, while Hales was cleared in December, Stokes is still waiting to hear if he will be charged by the Crown Prosecution Service.

"We play our best six batsman and all-rounder if we can and it will be structured like that", was Morgan's assessment.
